Dr. Ezra Atikune

NBEO Board Certified

Decades of optometry experience has allowed Dr. Ezra to exceed the needs of every patient who walks through the doors at Optik PDX. After graduating from the Illinois College of Optometry with distinctions in advanced ophthalmic care, he privately practiced in Chicago before relocating to Portland and establishing Optik PDX. Dr. Ezra loves eyewear; especially glasses with character and style. And, that is what you will find at Optik PDX.

Dr. Ezra is also one of a few nationwide NeuroVisual specialists. He holds specialized training in diagnosing and treating Binocular Vision Dysfunction and Vertical Heterophoria and has helped many people regain function, comfort and independence.

When he’s not providing eye care, Dr. Ezra enjoys spending time with his family in the great outdoors, camping, hiking and bouldering. Dr. Ezra loves meeting new people from all walks and experiences and hopes to meet you soon.

Dr. Jessica Bonner

NBEO Board Certified

Since Dr. Jessica Bonner was a young girl, she dreamed of becoming an optometrist. Helping her sister learn to put in contact lenses for the first time was just the first of many experiences that lead her down this path, and we’re so thrilled to have her join the Optik PDX team. As our newest associate optometrist, Dr. Bonner is here to connect with patients and educate them about their eyes while providing comprehensive vision care.

Dr. Bonner grew up in Southern California but a move to Seattle for college made her fall in love with the Pacific NW. After graduating from the University of Washington with her BS in Biology, she moved to Oregon and received her Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University. She has since enjoyed everything that Portland has to offer, including hiking, paddle-boarding, and exploring local restaurants and wineries.

Dr. Bonner is also one of the newest NeuroVisual specialists in the nation and is helping people suffering from BVD regain their physical and visual function.

Like the rest of the Optik PDX team, Dr. Bonner loves all of the frames in the Anne et Valentin collection and will certainly have a few style recommendations if you’re unsure about which frames to select. A practicing yoga instructor for nearly seven years, she is a parent to two cute cats and a St Berdoodle. Dr. Bonner is looking forward to seeing you the next time you schedule your eye exam.

Aaron

OFFICE MANAGER

Our Office Manager Aaron has been in the optical industry for nearly two decades, as a job in Montana started off his career in 1999. At the recommendation of a friend, he applied to be an optician, and when his place of employment closed, he made the jump over to a national chain eyewear retailer.

Aaron moved to Portland in 2005 and went back to school for History and English, and although he took a momentary break from all things optical, his love for the industry never left him. In 2017, he joined the team here at Optik PDX.

Our shop was a great fit for Aaron, as he describes some of his favorite things about our practice:

“I love the fact that we’re focused on patient care and quality of service first and foremost. I love that we’re dedicated to offering only the very best quality frames and lenses from independent eyewear designers and manufacturers. I love how engaged with and supportive of the local community our office is. But most of all, I love the fact that I work with some of the best people I’ve known (coworkers and patients alike) in a relaxed, happy, upbeat environment.”

Known for his love of quirky yet classic eyewear, Aaron has two current favorites at the shop: the Matsuda model M3068 and the “M” series from Anne et Valentin. Be sure to stop by and check them out!

Yissel

OPTICIAN/ CREATIVE DIRECTOR

One of our most creative team members at Optik PDX, Yissel brings her artistic talents and gets the chance to do what she loves every single day.

“I have been with Optik PDX for about six months now. I am an Optician as well as the Director of Marketing. I not only fit and style people in their eyewear, but I also get the pleasure of letting the world see what we do. I do the photography and manage all of our social media accounts keeping everyone up to date with the latest fashion styles.”

If you follow us on social media, it’s Yissel’s handiwork you’ve seen, as she captures stunning images of the gorgeous frames we carry.

Yissel began working in the optical industry in 2013 with the intention of becoming a receptionist, but was hired as an optician and learned the ins and outs of the industry on the job. She loves the amount of patient care the team at Optik PDX provides and is proud to call our shop home.

Her current frame favorites are: “The new Matsuda M2022 in Champagne – but I already sold it! My second favorite frame in the store would be the Anne et Valentin Birdy. It’s unique and eye-catching for those that dare to be bold.”

Brianna

OPTICIAN/ SOON-TO-BE-OPTOMETRIST

Working at Optik PDX isn’t Brianna’s first stop on her journey to becoming an optometrist, as she’s worked as an EMT and in the ER and podiatry fields. Having just completed her first year at Pacific College of Optometry, joining the Optik team was a natural fit: “I wanted to get experience in the optical industry, outside of patient care, prior to diving in as a doctor in a few years.”

Patients who schedule an eye exam with us will be greeted by Brianna as she completes pre-testing, Optos retinal imaging, and more. She’s also well-versed in the daily tasks of optical care, helping out with adjustments, frame styling, and dispensing eyewear. Brianna attributes her success at the shop to the helpful and friendly staff, remarking that she’s never worked in a more positive environment!

You can usually catch Brianna wearing a subtly colorful frame, as she loves the fine details that transform eyewear from boring to beautiful. “My favorite frame in the shop right now is the Anne et Valentin Capella in gold and pink. The angular detail on the soft round shape and pop of pink are exactly what I love in a frame!”
